Dutch-born Canadian Federation of Artists painter Joy Hanser enjoys all manner of expression. Paint, texture, drawing, collage, layering, pastels, photography, portraits, sculpture and large murals all form a part of her repertoire. Her graphic design education at the Kootenay School of Art and Emily Carr University of Art has played a large part in developing versatility and new ways and means of expression. Painters Paul Gauguin and Emily Carr provided early inspiration for Joy’s work as well.
Murals, signs and faux painting continue to be a large part of her output, and work in the movie industry has expanded her boundaries. Joy is a recipient of numerous awards and is a scenic artist and member of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees, IATSE, since 2000.
