The City of Port Coquitlam is looking for enthusiastic people to join the City`s new Recreation Complex Stakeholder Group.
The Stakeholder Group members act as champions of the project and are resources to the City and the community. This volunteer opportunity is ongoing throughout the design and construction of the City`s new Community Recreation Complex. The group meets four times per year. Member duties will include:
- sharing information and engaging with the community,
- sharing ideas about specific components of facility design, service delivery and customer experience, and
- participating in quarterly meetings to discuss the needs of specific users to ensure the facility design and services are functional.
In addition to City Council and staff members, the stakeholder group includes 10-12 representatives from a variety of community groups and key user groups, including aquatics, ice sports, gymnasium sports, general public, youth, adult/family, fitness, accessibility and inclusion, Wilson Seniors Centre, Port Coquitlam Sports Alliance and Terry Fox Library.
Members attend quarterly meetings throughout the duration of the project and must be willing to make a multi-year commitment. The group reports to the Director of Recreation.
Applications can be submitted online at portcoquitlam.ca/reccomplex by noon on Nov. 5. Selected candidates will be contacted by November 13.
The multigenerational recreation complex includes an aquatic facility, three ice arenas, a library, fitness centre and a variety of multi-purpose spaces. The residential and mixed-use components offer various ownership and occupancy options.
More information on the scope of the project and construction progress to date can be found on the City’s website at portcoquitlam.ca/reccomplex.
